Hello everyone,
I am new here to the forums and sorry, I don't speak Finnish (yet), although I have moved here over two years ago. I wanted to introduce myself to you and make some new friends.
I am from Switzerland and work as a designer at Rovio. I drive a Defender 110 TD5 and love it. Hope I can meet some of my fellow Defender drivers who live around Tapiola or anywhere around Espoo or Helsinki.
Cheers,
Simon
Welcome to the forum. You will learn finnish, sooner or later, it is not difficult at all. Well, my UK/scottish colleagues have different opinion...
Tervetuloa foorumille. Tulet oppimaan suomea, ennemmin tai myöhemmin, se ei ole ollenkaan vaikeaa. Tosin, työtoverit Iso-Britanniassa/Skotlannissa ovat eri mieltä...
Simon, your Defender looks good. So you take it off-road or otherwise to the woods often?
I only have Discovery, and even that is my first own Land Rover. But I have driven Defenders and Discoverys at previous jobs .
In Espoo there is an offroad park called Kulmakorpi. There they organize offroad driving happenings from time to time, the next one is 18. November. You should go there to meet other offroad people and try your Disco in the forest:

Thanks for the kind worda.
I don’t do off-road as a sport but I am a passionate climber and mountaineer. Not that there are a lot of mountains but at least outdoorsare great and some places are quite inaccessible. So the Lnadi helps me get around and and it’s als our family car.
Greetings and welcome! Or, how do the Swizz say, Grüezi??!
Give a holler if you need some tips and pointers about climbing..or if your Defender craps the bucket and need fixing!
Finnish forums can be quite challenging (even if you speak/read Finnish..), traffic is not that high and our culture is not that
talkative to begin with.
There is a active bouldering/mixed/ice scene in Helsinki area though. The normal indoor spots (Cave Pasila, Isatis Herttoniemi, Boulder Keskus Espoo, Salmisaaren Kiipeilykeskus) are good even on a international level and there are quite a bit of outdoor bouldering +one pitch ice & mixed spots as well.
Enjoy! But, I will say beforehand...So sorry about the Southern Finland winter you are going to experience!

Welcome from me too. We do gather for "kahvittelu" every 1st weekend of the month on Sundays 15:00 onwards. Or at least try to.
The place changes and sometimes it's outdoors at fire place and sometimes indoors. Tyre kicking & coffee/tea drinking or even eat if you wish to.
These are within/round metropolitan area, up to 40km radius usually.
You can see it in this thread:

Tomorrow at Kuusijärvi Cafe.
Indeed it is Grüzi!
I have been here now two years and actually love the winter. Beats the summer and lives up to the expectations. Car is damn cold though!
Too bad I saw your message too late Kaitsu. We would totally have come for the coffee. December it is then.
