New in Finland - pekosurf - 17-05-2011

Hi,
my name is Peter, I am coming from Germany, where I am a member of the German Land Rover Club (www.dlrc.org)
I will be here for working in Finland for 9 month. Hopefully I get the chance to meet finnish Land Rover Owners on some Events such as Greenlaning, Offroad or just on a campfire.

One thing at least Smile
My car is a Defender TD5 110 MY2000 which I own since 5 Years.

2. Tougher safari on island of Kumlinge on 20.-22.5. (three ferries from Turku, about 4 hours)

There will be a small-scale offroad event at Off-Road Paja in Lieto most probably sometime in June.

Welcome to Finland Peter,

If you're based in Helsinki, you could also check Kulmakorpi.
Routes there can be a bit challenging for a non-modified Defender,
but as it is only about 30km from Helsinki, worth a visit.

There is a campfire where you can practice a Finnish tradition,
burning sausages. Driving cost 20€ and there is a mandatory
pre-registering if you plan to drive, but I recommend that you
go there just to watch first time. Kulmakorpi Offroad Park is
"administrated" by TapUA and FJDC (Finnish Jeep Divers Club),
but it is open for everybody.

Schedule: 21.5, 4.6., 18.6., 2.7., 16.7., 30.7

Some photos.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you want more information.

Hello all
thanks for the warm welcome here.

My Land Rover is my daily car - so if it is broken I will get in trouble to go to work.

And then there is the famous Finland Offroad Tour starting on July 23 and continuing until August 5th. http://www.finlandoffroad.fi/index_english.php The route begins in the southern part of the country and extends to the beautiful sceneries of northern Finland.
There are routes for (almost) stock 4WD vehicles & also hard core offroaders. You can take part only for one day or drive through the entire route if you wish.

And it might be worth mentioning that this year one of the stages in FOT is on Land Rover Experience's grounds in Hämeenlinna. It's one of the rare occasions when you're allowed to drive your own vehicle on LRE tracks.
