What are the thoughts of Landrovers amongst the Finnish nation?
Do you trust the name as a brand? eg reliability?
What model of landrover do you prefer?
What do you the landrover for?
Do you prefer the old models?
How much would you spend on a used Landrover?

Its an on going thought, nothing to serious but I have lived in Finland for a while and did some work up in the forests in lapland. Needless to say a landrover would have been really useful.
What do you think of the idea?

Some comments to bejotayl:
I like all Land Rovers, but especiallly Defender (90).
It might be a good idea to import old Land Rovers to Fnland. Some forest workers and hunters might be interested. However, old Land Rovers have some problems in the very cold climate in Finland. This may cause some reliability problems. Another problem in the cars transported from the UK may be the right sided steering wheel.
However, if You are going to start importing bussiness, I suggest to import cheap about 4-10 years cars with good accessories.

Hello!
I like too 110 and STW especially. I say, that older tdi 200 or 300 is best import to Finland. One problem is price, because all Defenders is very expensive and import tax too high... Nowadays 4x4-cars aren´t cheap buy here, they have lot of tax and air pollution payments.
I see, that "normal" finnish not buy Defender, or Land Rover...Finland is Toyota´s land ;-) But Land Rover are very good hobby.
But if you believe, you can bring few Land Rovers and look, how your business goes ...

I trust my Land Rover as I trust the brand. I'm confident that every time I turn my back on the car it's going to leak every single drop of oil out on my front yard, somehow magically fill itself with water and thus burn every fuse in it... I trust my car and the company behind it as I trust hemorrhoids. Therefore I'm constantly contemplating to buy a third...
Everything that's Series based is fine with me, although I also own a Disco. However that particular piece of mental illness is in a less useful state at the moment. My Series IIa is my everyday car and has been so for the last three years, winter and summer. The Disco is eventually turning into a family car, painfully slowly though.
If by older models you mean pre-99 (i.e. pre-Td5) then my answer is yes. This has less to do with prejudice against the Td5 than a more general aversion to too "over electrified" vehicles. Less is more.
1-3K€ would be my upper limit. That's what I think a Land Rover is worth, as long as I'm not the one who's selling... :lol:

I think there are always takers for Land Rovers if they are at bargain price and not too rusty.
As the others already noted, the old 200TDi and 300TDi are probably the best diesel models, of course some would prefer V8 petrol as well.
Probably you should look for LHD models, I've seen there are some for sale in UK also.
Personally I like cars made in 80's and 90's (Edit:well, 70's too), I do have couple of Rangies and one Disco, so I'm still missing Series and Defender :wink:
Edit 2: And pricing preferably from 1K up to 5K €, unless it's something really special.
