aadvise for my freelander please

hi. i have just moved to finland and brought my lhd freeander.its a 2001 1.8 petrol. however after just one day here the enginge is broken and needs replaced. having spoken to a couple of dealers they are quoting me seriouse money for a replacement. can anyone addvise on anywhere to try or if its better to sell it on. it would make a very good project for someone who knows what they are doing as the rest of the car is very tidy with new tires and not many miles on the clock. thanks
